Asylum Rx V2 Scheduled for February 1st Release

25th Jan 2022

We are excited to announce that the second generation Asylum Rx is set to be released on Tuesday, February 1st at 7 AM Pacific Time. While the journey has been longer than expected due to the Pandemic and other unforeseen circumstances, the wait will prove to be well worth it. While the aesthetics remain relatively unchanged from the initial release, there is a lot that is new under the hood. The blade angle has been changed ever so slightly to make the shave smoother with a little less bla … read more
The New Gillette Swedes Are Here

The New Gillette Swedes Are Here

6th Apr 2019

We just received a shipment of Gillette Platinum DE blades from the St. Petersburg plant in Russia. These blades are supposedly exactly the same as the legendary and vintage Gillette Swede blades that you have heard so much about.  The blades are incredibly sharp, smooth, comfortable and durable. They are probably a touch less sharp than Feather blades but -they are infinitely smoother and more durable.  Sold in boxes of 50, these blades are hard to come by. Be sure to grab s … read more

However, if you are a new owner of either of these two razors, you may become befuddled the first time you take the razor apart. There are two things that you need to be aware of. 1) The spindle has a friction ring that prevents the knob from accidentally falling out of the handle. If you do remove the knob assembly for cleaning, you will need to pinch the two ends of the friction ring togeth … read more
The Asylum Evolution DE Razor -Coming Spring of 2017

The Asylum Evolution DE Razor -Coming Spring of 2017

10th Nov 2016

I have been wrestling with whether or not to announce the new Asylum project but figure...what the heck. We will be releasing a double edge razor that is a tribute to the vintage Darwin Standard razor. We are shooting for early March but, you know how that goes. The DE razor will be called the Asylum Evolution razor and it will be machined from 303 Stainless Steel. Due to the idiosyncratic design of the razor, it will not accept other handles. Here are a few pictures of the CAD model … read more
