Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap in Ceramic Dish

Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap in Ceramic Dish

$ 35.00

Made in Bradford, England, this delicately scented shaving soap was born almost a century ago, when chemist Fred Mitchell discovered it was the lanolin in wool fat that was keeping the hands of local sheep shearers and wool sorters so unnaturally soft. Mitchell's Wool Fat (MWF) Soap is a tallow based soap that provides plenty of cushion and glide as well as lanolin and other organic ingredients that soothe sensitive skin. MWF Shaving Soap is considered by many to be the best shaving soap around and it has been widely recommended by dermatologists to alleviate skin complaints. The 4.4 OZ soap comes in a ceramic bowl with a lid. -Product of England

Excellent soap

I ordered some before, thinking I had a bowl that would fit. I didn’t. But I made it work and it quickly became a favorite. I used it almost every day for months to get it to the point I could justify ordering it in the ceramic dish. It lasts a ridiculous amount of time and it’s one of my favorites.

Some soaps are great but don’t last. Others are long lasting but not very good. This one is great and long lasting, and is well worth the price.

Good soap, no real scent

I bought this soap because it was popular. It laters and performs well, but I wish there were scented options.

Glad I bought this

I've heard of this soap for some years, but didn't try it until now. My standard shaving soap has always been Tabac.

I found this soap works equally as well as Tabac, with a more subtle scent. My only complaints are about the packaging. That ceramic bowl is thin and fragile. It will not survive much of an impact. Don't drop it or its cover, or you'll be looking for another soap dish. The other was that the puck size doesn't fit the bowl at all. It's much smaller than the diameter of the bowl. So, what I did was to shred the puck with a large cheese grater and press the shavings into the ceramic bowl. In comparison, the Tabac soap simply presses into the glass bowl in which it is sold, with a perfect fit.

As I said earlier, this soap functions very well. If you want a stronger scent though, this soap isn't it.

Great Stuff!

After lots of trying various soaps and creams I finally found one that softens my beard , lubricates my skin and even smells good. Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap has been great. No problem getting a good lather.

Best British

'The Fat' is a classic that every shaver should try and quite probably keep in his permanent rotation. It is one of the few tallow soaps available and gives yeoman performance with good shelf life.
Rumours of difficulty lathering may scare of the uninitiated. Just use soft water and apply your brush imagining the Dowager Countess of Grantham had invited you to a Cream Tea at noon.
