Wanted to try a fan knot and consulted with Phil first. Happy I chose the 2 band over the 3. This is my second Thater and I could not be happier. Super fast shipping too. If you are hesitating, don’t. This brush is wonderful and exceptionally made. Will sell off my other brushes now.
I love 26mm silvertips and this is my favorite thater brush out of the 3 I own - the best handle size (for my medium hands) and shape for grip.
My favorite until I bought the Thater 4125 was always the Kent BLK 8. While it is still right up there, the Thaeter (I have the 26 mm)which is slightly smaller and has less loft, provides a bit more backbone. The fan shape really works for me. It lathers fantastically well and is a most luxurious experience on your face. All good brushes come at a price, but the difference is very apparent. It should last a lifetime with proper care and so cost is relative.
About a weekend a half ago I purchased a Thater 4125, 26mm, 2 band, fan shape, black handle brush. That brush by far is now one of the best brushes I have in my rotation. I liked it so much that yesterday I took delivery of a Thater 4125, 28mm, 2 band, fan shape, white handle brush. The tips are as soft as a cloud but still have enough backbone to get the job done. Both of these brushes have a special place in my rotation high-rocky. If you have been considering one of these brushes or even wanted another high quality brush to buy you should seriously consider owning one of these.
I decided I wanted a brush with soft tips but good backbone. I was leaning towards a 26mm fearing 28mm would be too much of a good thing. I decided to go for the gusto and ordered the 2 band 28mm. Seeing the size in person I approached the shave with some trepidation, wondering if I had made a mistake, but lathering up with some MDC, and applying those gel tips to my face was pure luxury. The backbone was just right, and the flow through. Thater lived up to the reputation for soft tips. A wonderful brush. I highly recommend it if those are the characteristics you're looking for.
