I found this shaving cream is smooth and last well through multiple passes. The fragrance is very pleasing. This is one of very few shave creams I find works for me. I was also very pleased with rapid delivery.
Speedy delivery of a great product!
I received a tube of this cream as a very kind gift from Phil after placing a large order.
Initially, I was skeptical about it. I shave exclusively with soaps, and I like loading them directly from the tube with my brush. Moreover, I have recently decided to narrow down my soap rotation to 5 trustworthy brands, so I was not sure whether to keep the Asylum cream or move it forward.
Well, after 10 straight shaves with it, I can say it grew on me. The scent is subtle, but present. It’s a very nice blend of spices, and I find it very good and masculine without being overpowering.
I load the cream like any other soap, for about 10 seconds, with a damp small brush (a Simpsons Berkeley to be precise).
It provides enough cream for my usual two pass shave.
The lather is slick, but not as dense as my average shaving soap (Cella, MdC, Valobra and MWF). Post shave is very good, as it seems to retain more of my face’s moisture.
I will continue to use the Asylum Bay Rum English cream in my rotation. Being a 6oz tube, I’m sure it will last a very long time
For a number of years I have been experimenting with a wide variety of shaving creams at a range of prices. The Asylum English Collection are as good or better than any of the others, regardless of price. They lather terrifically and shave smooth. They are priced reasonably. At this point, I have ended my trials and will use these exclusively for as long as they are available.
I've shaved several times now with the Asylum English Collection Bay Rum cream. The shaves were great and I found the scent to be very pleasant but light and non-obtrusive. It's a much more complex scent than the usual bay rum -- hard for me to describe, but I really like it. Bay rum can be a little heavy, but the Asylum version can happily coexist with almost any aftershave lotion or cologne that you could throw at it, bay rum or not. The face feel was great, too, so it's a winner for me!
